We all feel afraid sometimes. Fear is natural and isn’t always a bad thing; it can even save our lives. At the same time, if we let our fears get the best of us, they can rob us of the abundant life we could have otherwise. Join us for a new series that recognizes the reality of being afraid but also provides a pathway for us to Fear Less.

This worship series begins Sunday, April 28th.

While we have changed this series to better fit our context, it is based in part on Adam Hamilton’s book Unafraid: Living with Courage and Hope in Uncertain Times

Series Outline

Key Scripture: Psalm 56:3-4

Fear is a natural thing that we all experience in life. However, sometimes our fears get the best of us. The good news is that by understanding how fear works, we can develop skills to help control it instead of it controlling us.

Key Scriptures: Matthew 16:13-20, 26:31-35, and John 21:15-19

Regardless of the setting, failure can be difficult; so difficult that the fear of failure can lead us to stop trying new things or taking any risks. While it is wise to count the potential costs of something we do, not trying new things because we are afraid to fail sometimes makes us feel like we already have.

Key Scriptures: Genesis 2:18, John 15:9-17, Psalm 139:7-12

Feeling lonely is one of the most painful experiences a person can have. That’s why so many of us fear being. Naming that fear and taking steps to find connection with others and with God can help keep loneliness at bay.

Key Scriptures: Luke 12:13-21, Matthew 6:19-21, Matthew 6:24-25

The fear of financial distress haunts many people. Many people experience the reality of that fear every day. Thankfully, we can find a way to minimize that fear in both faithful and practical ways.

Key Scriptures: Matthew 6:7, 6:34, Psalm 23, 2 Corinthians 4:16-5:1, John 11:17-27, 14:1-4

Fears of getting sick and/or dying are certainly justifiable. The good news is that we can find ways to Fear Less, even about these two frightening realities.
