In 2022, Middletown Christian Church created the Imago Dei Initiative. As part of that, a team has been working to make sure we live into our commitment to be a church where all of God’s children can find belonging.  The focus of our work this year will be on building a community that cultivates diversity through empathy, understanding, and mutual support.

This worship and small group series begins Sunday, February 2nd.

Series Outline

In the first message of this series, we will explore scripture’s mandate to be a community that practices empathy, understanding, and mutual support. This is the “why” behind the focus we will put on these things.

Healthy relationships within a diverse community can be difficult to cultivate when everyone has a different life experience and point of view. In this message, we’re talking about the importance of empathy for helping us bridge divisions and love each other well and how to become more empathetic.

Healthy communities practice mutual care and support, but sometimes it can be difficult to know where to start. In this message, we’re exploring how we can show up for each other and how to avoid compassion fatigue in the process.
