Scripture: Mark 15:16-39
“If we want to know what God is like, the best thing we can do is look at Jesus upon the cross. God is like that!” – Brian Zahnd
- Can you place yourself at Golgotha in your imagination? What are the sights, smells, sounds? Are you near or far away from the crosses? What do you feel? Perhaps empathy, revulsion, or fear, or even gratitude that someone else is suffering and not you?
- What and where are our “Golgothas” today, where people are warehoused, forgotten, abused, killed? Hospitals, prisons, inner cities, or behind closed doors in comfortable homes? Have you been to a “Skull Place”? How did you feel? How did you respond?
- Can you place yourself in the Roman soldiers boots. What do you think he was thinking when he crucified Jesus? What do you think changed his heart about Jesus? Do you think he became a Christian himself?
- What have you learned from this message that is important to you? How will it impact the way that you experience Easter this year?
