One of my favorite singer/songwriters is Sheryl Crow. I absolutely love her music. She writes some of the best choruses. They’re short but memorable and lots of fun.
One of my favorite choruses of hers is: “All I want to do is have some fun, and I’ve got a feeling I’m not the only one.” Another favorite is: “If it makes you happy, it can’t be that bad. If it makes you happy, then why the hell are you so sad?”
I’ve been singing along to that second song for years, but the other day I stopped to really listen to the chorus and realized how profound it is. Sometimes pursuing happiness actually makes us sad. She wrote that after achieving great success on her first album. She could not figure out why she was so sad when she had achieved her dream.
This weekend I’m going to talk about happiness and what Jesus said about happiness. You may be surprised by some of the things Jesus had to say. They are so outrageous that they have to be true. It’s the second sermon in our series Things Jesus Never Said. You can listen to the first sermon in the series here: https://bit.ly/2lCGrPG
See you Sunday,
