Sunday, June 19th is Juneteenth, a day commemorating the end of slavery in the United States. Louisville’s location on a river made it a major hub for the slave trade. Join us for two walking tours that visit significant sites related to this history in Louisville, including the Garrison Slave Pen, the Portland Wharf, and a stop on the Underground Railroad.
Tour 1: Bus departs at 2 PM from MCC, includes a two-mile walk along the riverfront.
Both tours return to MCC by 5:30 PM. All ages welcome.
Tours are weather permitting. Please wear appropriate shoes and clothing and bring a water bottle to fill from the water jugs which will be provided.
While the 2 PM tour on June 19 is currently full, we are looking to add additional dates. If you are interested in the Walking Tour but were unable to reserve a spot, please contact Bill Wilson at [email protected]
Register below by Thursday, June 16th at 12 PM.
