When Teresa and I were married I ruined the bridesmaids dresses. I was supposed to deliver them to Teresa’s house safely in my car. However, I made the mistake of buying cherry snow cones for my stepdaughter-to-be and her friend. Little girls and cherry snow cones and bridesmaids dresses don’t mix. The red cherry on their faces matched the red cherry stains on the dresses.
Every wedding has it’s mishaps and miscues or it is just not a wedding. One wedding the groom decided he had to go to the restroom the minute the bride was about to walk down the aisle. It was an awkward moment when he ran out the back door and left people wondering if he would come back. Another wedding involved live sheep, and soon after the church’s wedding policy was changed.
This weekend I’m preaching on a wedding mishap in John 2:1-11 when the party ran out of wine. John says that what happened at this party says a lot of important things about Jesus. I will be preaching this message at the 8:30 a.m. service and the 5:30 p.m. service. Our 30 plus youth choir will then perform their musical Where Jesus Is at the 9:50 a.m. and 11:10 a.m. services after communion. What a great Sunday …a sermon about what happens when Jesus shows up at a wedding, then a great and inspiring musical, and you can catch all of it.
And send me your funny wedding story by replying to this email…would love to hear them!
See you Sunday,
P.S. This is what you can expect this summer during worship.
